Testimonies
| Natasha
| Two-year old Natasha. For the last half year Natasha has been treated for cancer in Mulago hospital. Her 17 year old mother Sanyu was thankful to receive funding for the treatment expenses for the cancer. There are a few treatment visits still remaining. Natasha is also recuperating from pneumonia for which she had to remain longer in the hospital. We hope that Natasha will live longer and remain healthy. Would you like to do something for one of these lesser brothers or sisters? |
| Moses
| Moses is a 15 year old orphan. His father died of AIDS related illnesses a few years ago and last March Moses lost his mother. She also died from AIDS. Immediately he became the care taker of his younger siblings. When his mother was better, she had purchased a small plot of land where she had built a mud hut and together with the former owner and neighbor, had built a pit latrine that they shared. Now the former owner is selling the whole plot that he had already sold to Moses mother. The documents showing the ownership of the plot have mysteriously disappeared as well as the copies that were with the local officials. The children have survived for one year without their mother or father but will they survive their neighbor's greed and crookedness? They are not important enough for society. No one is concerned about their fate. Who will defend the oppressed? Who will seek justice for the orphan? |
| Brian
| Brain, a young man came to our door on Boxing Day. "Mother, I have a problem, I don't have any food." He had eaten two days earlier. He had been provided food by a good-hearted person. Brian lost both parents some years ago. When he lost his parents he wandered from place to place and being homeless he slept on the streets. He dropped out of school. Brian is a gifted footballer and every day that our boys have been on holidays, he has been here playing football with them. Brian is important to God. God has a plan for Brian. Who will stand with him? Who will see Brian's giftedness and abilities? | Prossy
|
| Prossy is an HIV positive widow who almost lost her life a few years ago. Because she was unable to take care of her children they were taken to an orphanage. No one thought that Prossy would survive. Prossy was homeless, slept outside until some gave her a place to sleep nights in a church. Now that she is in better condition, she has her children back but there is nothing to eat at home and her rented room is too small for five people. She worries about how she will be able to put her children into school, where she will get enough food and will she have enough to pay for rent. Who will plead the case of the widow? |
| Erina
| Erina, a 38-year old single parent. She was widowed during her first marriage. Her second husband's drunkenness, violence and unfaithfulness made Erina a single parent again. For the last seven years Erina has carried the responsibility for five children. The oldest of the kids is HIV positive. Besides her five children, there are two grandchildren and four other relatives children that live in their small mud hut. Two days before Christmas her ex-husband came and emptied the house and took the children 300 kilometers away to the village. Why? He was not concerned with the well-being of the children. He came to take his 'property' even though he is unable to feed or school the kids in the remote village. In Africa women do not have a say, it is a man's world. Erina is one of our ladies making beads. I have known her for 12 years. She is an uneducated, unassuming woman, but works hard on behalf of her family. She loves her children and it was difficult to see her pain. I took her to our local government officials and to the police to file her case. We sent her to the village to get her children before her under aged girls are abused and married off to much older men. Our prayer is that Erina will survive her journey and would be able to bring her children back home. Who will plead the case of the widow? |
